Welcome to WardFive version 3.10! Please read this file carefully in order to
successfully install WardFive on your Psion Series 5 or 5mx.

Congratulations on choosing WardFive as your portable patient manager. This
represents the most sophisticated and user-friendly Patient Information
Manager ever written for the EPOC platform, and possibly for any palmtop
computer. Manage your patients with ease, and print directly to your ward
printer. What's more, WardFive is compatible with most PC-based databases and
spreadsheets.
Please read this file very carefully in order to successfully install
WardFive.
Installation
Open the file "WardFive.ZIP" on your PC using WinZIP (or some similar
program).
Double-click "WardFive.sis" to install the WardFive program files (The
"\W5Example" folder may be deleted if you wish.)
WardFive may now be started from the System Screen or the Extras bar.
If WardFive does not start properly, try launching it again, from the Extras

Registration
The distribution version of WardFive is Shareware. This means that you may
use it for the purposes of evaluation, but if you intend to keep using it,
you must pay a registration fee ($60 on-line). I'll then send you your
personal code via email, which will allow you access to some of the best
features of WardFive.

Please get all the Psion-carrying doctors in your hospital to register - it
should increase your general efficiency so much that it'll probably pay for
itself in terms of your hours worked in only a week or so at the most!
Registration
Visit http://www.palmaris.com and follow the links to WardFive. You can
register on-line via RegNet.
Please note: registration costs USD $60 (less than half the price of
competing software for other palmtops). Discuss this with your clinical
director, as you may be able to claim it as job-related expenses.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!
In the UK there is a extremely important piece of legislation known as the
Data Protection Act (1984). To store any named information about a person on
a computer (and yes, your Psion is a computer), you must be registered with
the Data Protection Registrar as a Data User. Please check with your Hospital
Trust Data Protection Officer to find out whether you are included in the
Trust's Data Registration. In some trusts you will be (automatically), but
not necessarily all.
There are penalties for breaching the DPA; Palmaris Medical Ltd and Shane
McKee take absolutely no responsibility for any individual or organisation
making use of WardFive in a way that contravenes the DPA. It is up to the
individual or corporate user to ensure that his or her use of WardFive
complies with legislation, locally-approved guidelines, and ethical
obligations for patient confidentiality.
We strongly recommend that you use an encryption program along with WardFive
to ensure the protection of sensitive data. Encrypt-It is an excellent
ShareWare encryption utility from Palmscape Software Ltd, and available from
http://www.palmscape.com

improper, of this program or any of its associated files. In addition, it is
the responsibility of the user alone to ensure that his or her use of
WardFive complies with local Data Protection regulations and employers'
